Fans React to the New Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer

Super Mario, the popular game series created by Nintendo that follows the titular protagonist, Mario, will be hitting the big screen once more in a computer-animated film produced by Illumination slated for release on April 7, 2023.

The original game came out in 1985 and since then there have been over 20 Super Mario-related titles released. This franchise has become a massive hit in popular culture through its variety of characters, maps, and game art throughout the multiple series.

Super Mario has dominated the gaming world since the ’80s, but it has not found the same success on the big screen. There has been a plethora of Super Mario television shows released as well as some films, most notably the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. film. This film was not received well, which is why Super Mario fans were hopeful about the latest movie to drop.

The teaser trailer for the new Super Mario Bros. Movie just released.

Fan Reactions

There were a lot of mixed reactions from fans about the new trailer. Some fans showed interest in the new Super Mario Bros. movie and others had some gripes about the casting for the movie.

It seemed like a lot of fans loved how Jack Black voiced Bowser in the new trailer.

However, it appears Chris Pratt’s voice acting as Mario left a lot of fans displeased. This was a common issue fans had with the new trailer.

Besides the hostile reaction to Pratt’s take on Mario, many fans were excited about the amazing visuals of the trailer. Fans also seemed excited about Charlie Day as Luigi and Keegan-Michael Key’s portrayal of Toad.

This Super Mario Bros. Movie will not be coming out until next year so fans will continue to pay attention to any new movie news. The cast of Pratt (Mario), Black (Bowser), Day (Luigi) and Key (Toad) is an uber-talented bunch that I think can deliver a good product. The animation also looks fantastic, so there is hope that Super Mario fans will be able to enjoy the new Super Mario Bros. Movie.
